“This may be your last chance to see Rhinos in the wild!”

Sep 2

These were the words of our guide on a private safari tour in the Kruger National Park, South Africa in April 2014.  As we read almost monthly of the senseless poaching of these magnificent creatures, I was truly saddened by the fact that this may actually be true – and sooner than we think.

South Africa is home to 73% of all the world’s rhinos, which numbered 500,000 in the early 20th century.  According to Save the Rhino International, there are only 29,000 left on the planet!

September 22nd is World Rhino Day.  If you would like to support efforts to protect these gentle giants, you can read more and donate at ww.savetherhino.org.
